Yamato’s vmf 1/7 Motoko Kusanagi, up for preorder!

Yamato’s new articulated figure line, vmf (variable motion figure) featuring Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is now up for preorder at Amiami! This PVC&ABS articulated figure will come in at a whopping 1/7 scale (around 23cm), which kinda explains the steep price of 8,190 Yen (7,800 Yen in Hobby Search).  If you really want her though, the release date’s still pretty far off (June 2008) so you still have enough time to save up. Looks pretty good, though the price is kinda unsettling so I guess I’ll just wait for a figma Motoko. ^^;

Alter’s new PVC figures unveiled! Haruka Takamori and Mina Tsukishiro

Earlier today, Alter revealed pre-order information on two new PVC figures, Haruka Takamori and Mina Tukishiro!

First up is this gorgeous 1/8 scale PVC figure of Haruka Takamori from AliceSoft’s latest eroge Beat Blades Haruka. Alter’s detail work combined with an amazing, dynamic sculpt will certainly get this figure on every collector’s must-have list. She’ll be released September 2008 for 6,800 Yen. I love Haruka’s design, especially her costume’s color scheme. I’ll really be looking forward to this one!

First seen in the fictitious anime Getsumen Heiki Mina in the live-action drama Densha Otoko, the heroine Mina Tukushiro became popular enough that Gonzo eventually made a real anime series, Getsumento Heiki Mina, lasting 11 episodes. Alter’s 1/8 scale PVC figure of Mina seems to have been inspired by Okama’s original character design, adapting a more subdued watercolor/pastel-ey color palette. The figure will retail for 6,300 Yen and will hit the shelves on August 2008.

Moe Monday - Naru Nanao

Moe Monday returns!

I’m sorry if I haven’t updated in a while, I got a new job (yay!) and started work a few weeks ago. So far it’s going great though it’s a bit time consuming, but I’ll get used to it in time. I’ve also been playing MMORPGs with Zeroblade (we’re playing Mabinogi at the moment) so uh… yeah. @_@’ Thankfully today’s a holiday (in the Philippines anyway) so I had time to post, though I’ll try to work on my schedule so I can update more frequently in the future. :D

Anyway, today’s Moe Monday will feature the lovely art of prolific character designer Naru Nanao! Have a great week everyone!

Macross F (マクロスF)

Macross F(Frontier) premiered yesterday in Japan! The series celebrates the 25th anniversary of the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross TV series, and is chronologically subsequent to Macross 7. This third TV series features Earth’s latest main variable fighter, the VF-25 and the exploratory fleet called the Macross Frontier. Here’s the opening song “Triangular” sung by Maaya Sakamoto and composed by Yoko Kanno.

Macross F ( マクロスF ) OP -「Triangular」 by Maaya Sakamoto

The story is set on the year 2059 featuring the 25th colonial fleet, dubbed the Macross Frontier, en route near the galactic center. In the first episode, Ranka Lee (Megumi Nakajima) is heading to the concert of Macross Frontier’s top Galaxy Network idol, Sheryl Nome (Aya Endo), and encounters a pilot trainee named Alto Saotome (Yuichi Nakamura) when suddenly mysterious insectoid biomechanical alien mecha (called Vajra in the official site) attacks the fleet. The story will also feature Lanka’s older brother, the veteran pilot Ozma Lee (Katsuyuki Konishi), and the U.N. Forces’ latest main variable fighter, the VF-25.

The first episode was pretty good, and even if it’s almost the same thing we’ve seen in the ‘Deculture‘ edition. They improved the animation and CG from the pilot episode a bit, and some scenes were timed differently making the story flow better. Seeing the Battle 25(?)’s humanoid form in the opening sequence was really cool too, I like how it resembles SDF-1 from the first Macross. I guess I agree with a lot of people that the show will really start picking up next episode, and I’m pretty sure it won’t disappoint!
